About Locally Proofed
A trust audit site for local businesses. We document what businesses can actually prove — not paid rankings, not hype, not empty promises.
The problem with most directories
Most local business directories are pay-to-rank systems. A business that pays more appears higher, regardless of its actual quality, track record, or the accuracy of its claims. That means customers make hiring decisions based on ad spend, not evidence.
Locally Proofed is built around a different question: can this business prove what it claims?
What we publish
Structured trust reports that document what a business can actually prove: its review history across platforms, real project evidence, whether founding dates and credentials are verifiable, how consistent its information is across the web, and whether marketing claims hold up.
Each report uses the same 10-category framework. Every category has a clear standard for what constitutes strong, moderate, limited, or unverified evidence.
Same 10-category framework across every report. No special treatment for any business.
Every score is based on what can be checked: state licensing databases, review platforms, business registries.
Payment for a formal audit doesn't change the trust label that appears on the public report.
Reports include a date and are updated when evidence materially changes. Labels reflect what was verifiable at evaluation time.
What we don't do
We don't accept payment to improve a score. We don't fabricate reviews, invent ratings, or assign "best of" rankings. We don't publish reports on businesses with conflicts of interest that can't be disclosed and mitigated under the same scoring standards.
The audit service
Beyond public reports, we offer a formal B2B trust audit for local businesses that want a thorough, documented evaluation for their own use — for sales calls, proposals, or internal credibility reviews. Payment for this service doesn't change the trust label on any public report. The scores are what the evidence shows.
